Katie Britt announces candidacy for U.S. Senate
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Katie Britt has announced her Republican candidacy for the U.S. Senate.
The seat is being vacated by the retirement of U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL).
Britt previously served as Shelby’s chief of staff and she is the former president of the Business Council of Alabama.
Britt made her announcement in a video release.
In an interview with Politico, Shelby said: “She’s like family. She’d make a good candidate. She’s probably the best-qualified candidate to come along in a long time.”
