MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - East Mississippi Electric Power Association sustained extensive damage to both the transmission and distribution electric systems from severe storms Sunday.
At the peak, nearly 8,000 members experienced a loss of power. Currently, crews continue to work to repair damage and restore service to every member that can safely receive power.
EMEPA’s electric system sustained over 60 broken poles, primarily in north Lauderdale County. Crews from Dixie Electric Power Association, Singing River Electric Cooperative and MDR Powerline Construction, totaling 45 additional personnel, are providing aid in restoration efforts.
