Cara Shirley was born and raised in Meridian and currently resides in Collinsville. She is married to her husband of 21+ years, Eric Shirley. She has 3 daughters, 1 son in law, 2 dogs, and 3 cats and one grandbaby coming soon! She also has an intense love of all things Christmas!
Before joining WTOK Cara worked as lead volunteer for a major worldwide ministry for many years. This gave her the opportunity to gain a vast amount of knowledge regarding writing, digital content creation, and communication. She was able to take the skills learned during her time volunteering and translate them into a career in local radio broadcasting. She is now taking all of those skills and using them to begin her career in television broadcasting with WTOK-TV!
When not working, Cara can be found home with her family, at a campground with her closest friends or out experiencing the local live music scenes in Meridian.
Cara also has a passion for speaking out for mental health awareness in both adults and teens, hoping to end the stigma of mental illness. Additionally she hopes to show people that it's never to late in your life to begin a career and it always ok to be authentically yourself!
