Deitra is a Chicago native who jokingly says that she's lost her ability to handle the bitter cold (i.e "the Hawk). So, she's happy to be here in the Queen City.
Deitra joined the WTOK team in July 2021, and has more than 15 years of experience forecasting the weather. Prior to joining Storm Team 11, she was the Morning Meteorologist for Kentucky's statewide news station Spectrum News1 based in Louisville.
Deitra received her Meteorology degree from Northern Illinois University, and she earned the designation of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society in 2010. Her most memorable weather event was when she worked in Mobile, AL and tracked a Christmas Day tornado that tore through the city.
You can catch Deitra's forecasts on News 11 at 5, 6, and 10PM. When she is not working, she's either with her family, friends, at church, or visiting a local restaurant (she calls herself a "true foodie"). She's also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
